What better to be our 1st blog then our newest babies! As with any new mother the hardest part is naming right? You want to make sure it is special and unique! Do they have a characteristic feature that stands out? Are they a certain shade of a funny named food? Are they spunky? I take so many things in to consideration! Sometimes it might be what I watched last on TV :) But either way they are all named and loved!
Where did you come from?
Everyone has different opinions about how to find a bottle calf. Me, I don't mind where I find them as long as I find them! They are just SO stinking cute and I can't help myself! Most of my babies come from the live stock market. When these little guys and gals are all put together they can get sick, have coughs, scours, ect. I make sure each one gets vitamins, antibiotics, and LOL (Lot of LOVE) So when they leave my farm to go to new homes they are happy and healthy!
Fresh hay, grain, and water is a must for getting these babies to grow big and strong!
Feedings
Both boys LOVE their morning bottles! 1 2qt bottle for each of them! We say ready set go and the race starts! The past few days Bucky finishes 1st and then has to nibble on my hand. I need to patent a calf paci but not enough hours in the day ;) During the day they have access to calf starter (Which they seem to like very well!) As the day comes to an end this is my favorite time to enjoy my babies. After a long day I get to hide from my kids for a few moments and relax! Both boys drink their milk as fast as they can and then Mickey must feel spunky with his belly full because he takes off, as quick as he can bouncing and jumping. I can hear the milk slosh around in his tummy! Tails wagging I have 4 ears wide open ready to listen to my hopes and dreams! I tell them a little about my day and ask them about theirs. (Yes I talk to my animals! Doesn't everyone?) The sun is setting and the cool Aug night air blows into their pens and they settle down for sleep. I take a deep breath in and smile! Another happy calf on the farm!
Next week we start halter training! What fun!!
